Senator Obama in Canton, OH, today speaking about what's at stake in this election and why we can't afford four more years of the same old politics that pits Democrats against Republicans, rich against poor, black against white.

In one week, we can choose an economy that rewards work and creates new jobs and fuels prosperity from the bottom-up.

In one week, we can choose to invest in health care for our families, and education for our kids, and renewable energy for our future.

In one week, we can choose hope over fear, unity over division, the promise of change over the power of the status quo.

In one week, we can come together as one nation, and one people, and once more choose our better history.

That’s what’s at stake. That’s what we’re fighting for. And if in this last week, you will knock on some doors for me, and make some calls for me, and talk to your neighbors, and convince your friends; if you will stand with me, and fight with me, and give me your vote, then I promise you this – we will not just win Ohio, we will not just win this election, but together, we will change this country andwe will change the world.

Full remarks below the fold:

Countdown: Russ Feingold Talks About FISA, A Sad Moment For Our Country

Countdown: Russ Feingold Talks About FISA, A Sad Moment For Our Country

Today’s vote in the Senate approving FISA legislation was a huge blow to our country, our Constitution and our rule of law. Twenty-six Democrats stayed true to democratic principles and voted against the bill, which grants immunity to telecommunication companies who betrayed the American people by illegally spying on our communications without warrants.

One of the Democrats who voted correctly today was Senator Russ Feingold, who appeared on Wednesday’s Countdown with Rachel Maddow. Feingold has long been a staunch advocate for following the Constitution, speaking out against President Bush’s illegal wiretapping program and fighting and voting against the anti-American Patriot Act. Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama voted for the FISA legislation, and while Feingold says there is hope that as president, Obama could change the unconstitutional aspects of the bill, it was still “the wrong vote.”

Maddow: “It is heartening to hear your optimism on the prospect of Obama’s presidency on this issue, but of course, his vote today led a lot of us who see this as a real abrogation of the fourth amendment to be very concerned.”

Feingold:”Well, it was the wrong vote. Any Democrat that voted that way was not voting according to what people in the Democratic Party clearly want, but, you know, we’ll pull together after the election, we’ll lay the case out again.”

Giuliani Campaign Behind Scheme to Steal the Election

Giuliani Campaign Behind Scheme to Steal the Election

Remember the California electoral initiative that was supposed to be dead already?

Not only is it not dead, it’s a host of heavyweights for the Giuliani campaign that have been behind it and are currently working to gather the signatures needed before the deadline next week to keep it alive.

Bill Schneider: A lot of the money behind the California ballot measure is coming from Republicans with ties to Rudy Giuliani, and a lot of the effort to stop it is coming from the Hillary Clinton forces. It’s turning into an early showdown between the two front-runners, and the voters of California don’t even know it.

Look out, here comes “The REAL Rudy”

Look out, here comes “The REAL Rudy”

“The REAL McCain” seemed to have been pretty effective, so now we have “The REAL Rudy“…

In this first installment:

At a recent debate in Iowa, Rudy Giuliani was asked, “In 30 seconds, what is a defining mistake of your life and why?” He made a joke about how he couldn’t possibly list all his mistakes in 30 seconds. Ha!

So we gave it a try.
